Hope everyone is having a good week.  I'm back as promised with a Power Poppy image to share with you. 

I think this is one of my favourite cards I've done this fall as far as Christmas cards go.

I'm using the stocking from Marcella's latest release. I am entering this into the challenge over on Power Poppy for Peep of the Week.

I started by stamping the image onto some 110 lb cougar cream cardstock using black memento ink. Image was coloured using copics (colours listed below).  I then cut out the image using a circle die, applied gold krylon pen around the edge, then layered this onto a piece of light green c/s cut using a scallop circle. Designer paper is from MME- Lost & Found Christmas.  The burgundy piece is layered onto a piece of cream card stock which I applied a gold krylon pen along the edges  to make it look like gold c/s underneath - a much cheaper way than using gold c/s.  I used one of the sentiments from the set, stamped it in versafine olympia green onto a piece of cream c/s  then created the flag tag.

Finished off with some gold ribbon, wink of stella clear pen,  and in the center of poinsettia I added some champagne crushed glass glitter.  Another card for my sale basket!

Winter cardinals

I hope everyone had a 'Happy Halloween' yesterday.  Weather was absolutely terrible here for the trick or treaters - rain, rain, windy, cold - I'm so glad my kids are grown up and I was able to stay inside where it was warm and hand out treats.  In past years we have seen 40 - 50 kids, last night we only had 15, so needless to say lots of goodies left, not so good for the WW diet - so I will be taking the rest to work on Monday, I don't need that temptation at home.  I'm 9lbs from my goal weight to become a life time member, but I must say these last 10 lbs or so have been the hardest.  I have such a sweet tooth, and with Christmas coming - OMG I need to stay focused to reach my goal by then if I can.  Okay enough about that, lets get on with my card.

I know I said I was going to post another Power Poppy card, but I haven't taken the picture yet, but I have this one to share instead.  I don't think you will be disappointed.

This image is from Northwoods Rubber stamps Inc, I came across is in my Christmas stamp collection- I think I bought this over 3 years ago at a rubber stamp convention.  I haven't been to one for 3 years so I know it's older than that.  See that's what happens when you have too much, you forget what you have!

I stamped the image using black memento onto some cougar 110lb white c/s.  I coloured the image using prismacolour pencils and blended with gamsol,  then sponged around the image using SU soft sky, once I cut out the image leaving the die in place.  I then layered this onto a piece of gold mirri paper, then onto some bazzill seafoam c/s. My background paper is from Memory Box - not sure what collection this is from.

I finished off with a couple of strips of gold peel offs along the bottom, glitter, a piece of gold metallic ribbon just tied in a single knot and held in place with a red glittered enamel dot.  I don't know how well you can see, but the pine cones have some texture added to them.  It's called Barbara Trombley's Elements - Nut brown - it looks like finely chopped cork with an added smell of nutmeg - oh it smells so nice!

Poinsettia

Hi everyone.  I'm back today to share another Christmas card with you.  I received my new stamp set from Power poppy and it just was screaming to be inked.  So...... this is what I did.....
I'm using the new set called Poinsettia stamp set.  I'm going to enter it into this weeks Power poppy - Peep of the Week contest.

I stamped the image using memento toffee on 110 lb white cougar c/s.  Image was coloured using copics.  I then cut it out using the spellbinder ovals, and layered this onto a piece of Soft Sky which was cut using spellbinder elegant ovals.

Background paper is from Authentique - Glistening.  I used one of the edges from the spellbinder A2 bracket borders one to cut the bottom edge, and did the same on a piece of soft sky.  I then cut the bottom front edge of my white card base using 2 of the edges from the same set.

Finished off adding crystal glitter to the berries, pink silk bow, clear rhinestone, and some crushed glass glitter for the center of the poinsettia.  

Oh and of course across the top of the card, I thought it looked a bit plain, so I added a strip of peel off's.  Hind site - I should of edged the poinsettia oval using my gold krylon pen.  Next time I guess!

Warm your heart

Hi everyone, I'm back today with another Christmas card to share.  I love doing the pretty & elegant cards, but sometimes it's always fun to do those whimsical ones as well.  You need a variety - right?

So when I saw these adorable images from Art Impression, I knew I needed them.  I bought four of their whimsical images (ordered them through my local stamp store - The Paper Pickle - for all you local folks, if you see something online and you just have to have it, let Kim know and she will be more than happy to order them in for you - she is the best!).

So this cute guy is called Warm your Heart set.

I started by stamping the image on 110lb cougar white c/s, using black memento.  I used copic markers to colour the image - sorry did not keep track of the colours, but there was lots!
I then layered this onto a piece of red pattern paper, then onto some kraft.  The stripe designer paper is from Basic Grey - aspen frost, and the red polka dot is from Basic Grey as well, but it was a scrap piece.  Card base is soft sky.

To finish this I stitched around the image.  I cut 2 snowflakes from my Simon Says snowflake dies, one from soft sky and one from vellum.  I added lots of glitter to both.  The soft sky snowflake is glued down behind my image and the the vellum was added to the top of the image in the corner and added a red button on the center.  White flock was added to the penguins had, and glossy accents to the berries, and basically glitter on everything else.

Time to give thanks

Hello everyone.  I hope your enjoying your weekend.  This is our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and what better way to celebrate than to say Thanks to all my followers.  Without you, I wouldn't be posting, it's comments and visits to my blog that keep me going. So a big Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

The weather was perfect today to get all the yard work done before winter (did I really say that word!) - patio furniture put away, flowers pots cleaned out, grass cut etc. Then I made a big pot of vegetable soup - simply delicious.  I love making homemade soups.

And of course I have a card to share with you as well.  I made this back in August for my sale basket and it was scooped up in no time.

I don't remember all the colours I used, I never kept track, but I stamped the image on cream card stock using brown memento  and coloured with copics.

I then cut the image out using the Justrite vintage labels three,  I also stamped the sentiment on a piece of green c/s and used the vintage labels three to cut this out as well. I then layered this onto a piece of terra-cotta card stock cut out using Spellbinders decorative labels twenty-eight, which was first stamped with a  flourish using versamark.  The background paper is from Bo-Bunny.  I layered this onto a piece of cream c/s, wrapped some twine around it several times then tied off in the front. My base card is chocolate brown.   To finish off I added some Bella glitter dots to the corners.

Cabrini ornament

--> Hi Everyone.  Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but with good reason, I've been away on vacation.   Bill and I took off for 9 days.  We first headed to Sault Ste Marie - Ontario ( drove up through Michigan)  and hiked in the Lake Superior Provincial Park for 4 days,(the fall colours were spectacular) then we headed to the windy city of Chicago for 5 days. Never been to Chicago - what a beautiful city.  We stayed right downtown, right across from the Trump tower. Our view from the hotel room was gorgeous, we could see up and down the river and street, we had a corner room. A very clean city.  I will have some pictures to share, Bill took tons, so it will take a bit to go through them and process the ones he likes.

So with that said, I'm back, and I have my first Christmas card to share.  This was a very simple card once I figured out what I was doing (lol).

--> I started with a piece of white card stock (4 1/8 x 5 3/8) and embossed it using a snowfall embossing folder.  My scalloped layer was cut using a spellbinder border edge die.  I then adhered this to the snowflake piece using foam tape, then wrapped some burgundy crepe ribbon around it and tied a bow. Now comes the fun part.  I used a Memory Box die and cut it once using gold mirri paper.  I cut it again using green for the holly leaves and some burgundy (stardream) paper for the berries.  The ornament itself was cut --> from a piece of pale gold glitter paper.  I laid all the pieces back into the ornament where they belong and adhered them to the frame on the backside using tape.  I then applied some foam tape to the back of the ornament and tucked the hanger under the scallop edging as if it was hanging.

Hello there.  Hope your week is going well.

I'm back today to share a wedding card (that I made at the beginning of August!) I made for a friend's mother-in-law to give to her daughter on her wedding day. I love fussing with making wedding cards, making them so pretty and elegant. This is what I came up with:

The only bit of stamping was the sentiment, which was stamped on a pre-cut flag stax fish-tale using black versafine.  Sentiment is from PTI.  

The gold metallic paper at the bottom is a strip of washi tape - isn't this so pretty?  The rest of the card was basically using dies, flowers, pearls and sequins.

Ink- black versafine Ddies- Memory box - Massa leaf frame, Chochitlan wreath, spellbinders circle, MFT - fish-tale flag stax, MFT - rolled roses

Fun with Hexagons

Hi everyone, I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post.  Life just gets so busy at times doesn't it?

I'm just going to do a quick post today, I have the day off and I have a long 'to do' list to get done.
I'm just taking a break before I continue on with my errands.

I have been seeing lots of cards done using some of the larger background dies so I thought I would give this a try.  I think my favourite background die plate would have to be this hexagon die from Papertrey Ink.

First, I stamped a background stamp from Justrite called French Rose - I stamped it on MFT  pink lemonade using the pink lemonade dye ink pad. I then cut out the frame using some designer paper from K & Company.  Now this is the tricky part, while trying to keep all the hexagons in the right spots - on the back side, I taped some the hexagons while they were still in there spots catching the tape on the borders of the hexagons and across to the next border edge in order to keep the hexagon adhered to the die cut.  I hope I'm explaining this well for you to understand.  After I taped down as many as I wanted, I then adhered some foam tape to the border as well as behind the hexagons that I taped down. I then layered this onto my background piece, which gives this a bit of dimension.

For my sentiment piece I used a die from Spellbinders de-lites and cut the green layer, then used the next die in the set to cut the pink lemonade c/s.  I stamped the sentiment from an MFT set I have using black versafine.
Now the sentiment looks crooked but really it's not in real.  Must of taken the picture off kilter or something- lol!. 

Finished up with some glittery gems in some of the hexagon openings and a small pink ribbon bow on the sentiment.

This was a fun card to do, a bit of time but love the outcome.  I hope you give this a try sometime as well.

Welcome baby

Hi, I'm back today to share another baby card.  I had a request from a co-worker for a baby shower card. She specified - if I could- a card with an owl - the expected Mother has the nursery in an 'owl' theme.  So I browsed several blogs and pinterest to get ideas, and at this time Papertrey Ink was just starting to showcase their August release sneak peaks. The were showing an owl die, but I new I did have time to order and get it here in Canada in time for when she needed the card,...... so I winged it, and this is what I came up with.

After making this one I made 3 more for my sale basket.  No need to go into details, I will list the supplies below.

Thanksgiving blessing

Well here we are in September, which is really hard to believe.  Our Canadian Thanksgiving is only 5 weeks away, so I thought I would be a bit pro-active and get a couple of Thanksgiving cards made.  I usually keep putting 'holiday' cards off and then before you know it, it's here.  So this is my first card of two that I'm sharing today.

I received my order from PTI a couple of weeks ago and this set  Autumn Adornments was just waiting to be used.
I started with my top layer measuring 5.5 x 3 7/8.  I stamped the flourish in each corner using distress milled lavender.  Added the acorns with distress antique linen, and the small pink flowers using PTI - sweet blush.

I used a piece of scrap paper (5.5 x 1) in kind of a plum/grey tone and placed that along the left edge of my folded card base.  I then adhered the the stamped layer on top of my card base about 1/8" from the right side of the card.  For my sentiment I used the Thanksgiving blessings which comes with this set stamped using PTI - dark chocolate onto a piece of kraft c/s.  Along the top of the kraft strip, I adhered a piece of Little B gold washi tape.  I cut this kraft piece a little bit wider than the top layer because I wanted to overhang on each side of the main panel. Under the kraft panel I stamped 'so grateful' from a Flourish stamp set using distress antique linen.

The leaves were cut from scraps using the leaf from the die Phrase play #7 die.

So now for the finishing touches- I added some PTI Rainstones - love how crystal these little gems are, little white bow made from silk ribbon, wooden bird, and then for the center of the bow I added crystal self adhesive from Prima.

Finish card size - A2 - 5.5 x 4.25

Baby girl

Hi everyone.  Hope you had a good weekend.  Can you believe we are into the last week of August already? How did that happen?  

I'm just popping in for a quick post tonight.  I had a request for a 'baby girl' card a few weeks ago, and this is what I came up with. 

I started by using a stamp set from Rubber Stamp Tapestry called Baby set.  I love these types of stamps, they are all small little stamps on pegs.  I have so many of these sets, it's been a while since I used them. I stamped the word Baby, then with the peg stamps I added the flowers then the greenery. I then cut this out using a spellbinder circle die,  left the die in place then sponged some light pink inside the die.

The rest is self explanatory so I won't  bore you with all the detail. 

I've had a couple of emails asking me the name of the border: it is Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders One.

a bucket of lavender

Hi everyone.  So glad it's almost the weekend.  It's been a very busy week, but the days just seem to drag along.  I thought on Wednesday that it was Friday - well I was hoping - LOL.

I'm back to share another Powerpoppy card with you today.  This image is from the Lavender set.  I started by stamping the image using black memento on 110lb white cougar card stock.  Image was coloured using copics and shading using prismacolour pencils.

I then cut the image out using an oval spellbinder die, and layered this onto a scallop oval cut from purple c/s.

The white flower flourish was a piece I had previous cut from a memory box die but never used it.  I thought it fit nicely in the corner.

Designer paper is from Memory Box.  Finished off with glitter on the lavender, pearls and rhinestones on the floral flourish.

Flowers in blue

It's a beautiful day here in SW Ontario, no humidity, nice breeze and sunny, a perfect summer day!  I've been spending my day outside, but thought I should come in for a moment or two and post a card.
I did this card a few weeks back. The stamp I used is a new release from Hero Arts called Flowers on a Stem.

For my card, I coloured directly on the stamp using distress markers, spritzed and then stamped on 110lb white c/s.  I then cut out the flowers using spellbinders majestic labels twenty-five.  I had laying on my table a white piece of cardstock cut from spellbinder tile works.  The wheels got turning and from there the card came together.  The ribbon is really not that bright of blue in real life. It's funny how a camera can pick up colours and show them differently than what they really are.

Uptown Bryann

Hello and Happy Monday to all.  Today is another holiday for us in Canada - woohoo! - love having long weekends.  So this morning I was up extra early - 6am- well that's my normal weekday wakeup - and I knew I wanted to finish off a card I coloured up last night.  So that's what I did.  I then went for a 40 min bike ride before it got too hot, then made by stewed zucchini - which is a combination of
sliced zucchini, onion, peppers, garlic, saute this until zucchini is half cooked then add a can of diced tomatoes and simmer.  I love this and it is zero points on weight watchers  since it's all vegetables.
While this was cooking I also started to make my stuffed Zucchini boats - OMG these are so delicious - you must try them - here is the link. (Note: I added extra salsa in the bottom of my pan and I also added the rest of my 19 oz can of tomato sauce around the zucchini in the pan.  I like lots of sauce rather than dried up).  These taste better the 2nd day.  So going to make them today and have them for dinner tomorrow.  Love have dinner ready on work days!

Okay, sorry I got a bit sidetracked there so lets get on with my card. I thought I would play along with Stamping Bella's challenge this week - Use an Uptown Girl on your card.  It's been a while since I coloured up one of the Uptown, and this one has never seen ink yet, I've had this one for quite a while.

So here she is - Uptown Bryann has a Baby shower:

Image was stamped using black memento, then I coloured with both copics and pencils. I love putting down the lightest layer of copic colour then come back in and add pencil colour. 
I then cut down to the size I wanted and layered this onto a piece of  quartz  bazzill c/s. Designer paper is from Teresa Collins - you are my happy 6x6. 

To finish off I used some lime green silk ribbon to pick up the lime green I used in my image since there was no lime green on the paper.  Added lots of glitter to her dress trim as well as on the parcels.
I love that I never stuck to pink or blue - which I always seem to do when doing baby cards - this way it can be used for either.
