One wonderful life.....

Hi- Hope your enjoying your Saturday.  I had another request for a wedding card - this time an all white card.  I love doing all white cards, there is just something about the elegance, clean and crispness of it.

Here is what I came up with:

Being this card is all white, I just didn't want to use plain white c/s so when I was at The Paper Pickle
yesterday I found some embossed 12 x 12 that would work perfectly.  It is embossed with flourishes - it's very pretty.

Can you see the 4 x 4  cut out piece in the center where the ribbon is wrapped around.  This was done with an EK Success wide border punch.  Becca Feeken has an excellent tutorial on how to achieve this right here. She has some amazing artwork.

I used several different spellbinder dies: labels 20, oval, scallop oval, circle and fancy tags two.
The sentiment is from Justrite Stamps - I embossed it in silver.

I added a nestabling from Want 2 Scrap - pearls to match the Fancy tags Two die. I've had these for a while, this is the first time I've ever used them, they are so easy to apply to the die cut.

Finished off with some satin ribbon - bow was done using the bow easy and pearls in the corners.

I'm going to enter this card in the Simon Says Challenge - anything goes.

Thanks for stopping in today.  Till next time....

Sketch #15 with attitude!

I must confess that this weeks sketch challenge had me stumped for some reason.  Today's card was my 3rd attempt at it.  The images I picked just didn't do it for me once I tried the layout, or the colour wasn't right etc, I'm sure you know how that goes, but needless to say I do have a card that I'm okay with.

I'm going to give you some attitude today with Miss ADDY 'tude!

She is stamped on bella's bestest paper using black memento and coloured using copics and pencils.
Paper used is Basic Grey Bittersweet. I used a rectangle s/binder die to cut her out and then for the layer behind her was cut using the romantic rectangles. Miss ADDY 'tude also comes with a sentiment which worked perfectly for this weeks sketch.

Finishing touches - satin ribbon, glitter, and rhinestones - for her earings and the four corners.

You can check out what everyone else did this week over at bloggabella.  Leave a comment while you are there for a chance to win some bella bucks.

Next weeks challenge is SUM SUM SUMMERTIME.  Email Emily your card by thursday night for your card to appear on bloggabella and to be entered in for a chance to win some bella bucks.

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a wonderful weekend!

Flower Garden

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!  We have a new BABE in the house.  Please welcome Carla - otherwise now known as CARLABELLA - your going to love her, her work is amazing.  See more of Carla's creations at    cardsbycarla.blogspot.ca.  Congrats Carla.

It seems like forever since I have posted last, but I'm back today with a card to share with you.
As you know I love flowers, and flowers can be for almost any occasion which makes this a very versatile card.

Today, I'm using Flower Garden.

Image was stamped on cream cardstock using rich cocoa memento ink.  I then used copics for my base layer  YR0000 & YR000,  YG91, YG93.  I then added shading using prismacolour pencils and blended with gamsol. After cutting the image out I sponged versamagic wheat and a bit of scattered rose distress ink around the image with die in place.

Paper is by Glitz called French Kiss.  I wanted to keep this kind of simple, didn't want to take away from the flowers, so I cut a piece of paper from the same paper pack using a Cheery Lynn doily die. I know it might be kind of hard to see because it does blend in very well.

To finish it off I used some champagne colour silk ribbon, glitter  and some pearls.

Just a reminder, you still have time to play along in our sketch challenge on friday (see below post for sketch). Email Emily your card by thursday night. By doing so you have a chance to win some bella bucks!

Thanks for stopping by today, see you on Friday.

Christmas in July - part 2

Hey, it's friday and you know what that means - yes it's the weekend (woohoo) and another bellariffic challenge.  This week our theme is Christmas in July.  One can never be too early to start their holiday cards, nor have too many.

For my image this week, I'm using one of my favourites - FROSTY- I have a soft heart for snowman- all shapes and sizes, don't matter, I love them.

I decided to make Frosty a 'guy' snowman so went with the blue/brown tones this year.  I bought this paper pack last year after Christmas, so never had a chance to use it.  Paper is from Bo Bunny called the Snowfall collection.

I stamped him on bella's bestest paper and coloured him with pencils and blended with gamsol.
I used a SU border punch for the trim along the blue snowflake piece.  Added some glossy accents to his black buttons and the christmas balls, diamond dust to the ground area and lots of glitter all around him.

This worked up pretty fast, so it would be a good card to 'mass produce' if need be.

Need some inspiration for carry on with your holiday cards? Then be sure to stop over at bloggabella to see what the rest of the babes and guests created.  Leave a comment for a chance to win some bella bucks.

Next week our theme is back to another sketch.  Play along with us and email your card to Emily by thursday night.  Not only will your card be on bloggabella but you will have a chance to win some bella bucks.
Thanks for peeking in today.  Have yourself a great weekend!

Vespa girl

I just finished my card for this weeks post, so rather than wait until tomorrow I've decided to post her tonight.  A friend at work (Lucy) asked me for a birthday card for a good friend of hers who enjoys riding her motorcycle.  Hmmmm... wasn't sure if I had anything that would suit this, but then remembered I had Vienna and her Vespa, how can you go wrong with an Uptown girl right?

She was stamped on bella's bestest paper using black memento, then I coloured using both copics and pencils.  I really did not like the way the ground area turned out, I almost tossed it, but I knew I had to finish this card tonight, so just carried on.  Once I finished putting it all together I don't really even notice the ground area.

Paper is from MME - Nostalgia - don't you just love MME paper's?.  I also used some light aqua and soft peach bazzill paper for my layers

She looked kind of bare in the corners so I used one of my new Memory Box Mariette Buckle, instead of using it as a ribbon slider, I punched a couple of circles using the co-ordinating papers and then finished off with a pearl in the middle. I also used a SU border punch for the open scallops on the aqua piece.

What's an Uptown girl without glitter - so added some glitter to her stripes on her dress as well as the bottom frill on her skirt.  For the light on her Vespa I added some glossy accents.

Just a reminder for our challenge this friday - Christmas in July.  It's a good way to kick start your holiday cards.  Just email Emily your cad by thursday night for your card to show up on bloggabella and also a chance to win some bella bucks.

Thanks for stopping by, see you on Friday.

Weekend in Toronto

A couple of weeks ago, Canada Day weekend, Bill and I spent the weekend in Toronto.  Weather was great, which gave us lots of opportunity for some photography, which was the main reason we went there. We spent many hours walking downtown Toronto, along the harbour front and we also went over to the Toronto Islands.  Bill took hundreds of pictures, but I share with you some of our favorites. (Just click on the picture to get a closer view).

While at High Park we came across some Cedar Waxwings

This next couple of pictures are taken Downtown Toronto

These were taken down at the Harbour along Queens Quay

On Saturday afternoon we went over to the Toronto Islands and stayed until dark so Bill could get
this view of the City in Lights as the sun went down.
Thanks for visiting, hope you enjoyed our pictures.

Christmas in July- part 1

Hey, it's Friday again - woohoo!  And being Friday you know it's another Bellariffic challenge.
This weeks challenge was a sketch.  With all this heat we have been having- actually the last couple of days have been bearable, I thought I would work on a 'cooler' image.  I kind of promised myself back in February that I would start to do one Christmas card a week, so I wasn't so bogged down come fall to get them done.  Well, this is my first Christmas card I've done - but it's a start right?

I have today confused Christmas dog.  He seems to be a favourite image, everyone loves him.

As always, I started by stamping my image on bella's bestest paper.  The colouring was done using copics.  I sponged some antique linen around the image after he was cut out.  Paper is from MME- 12 days of Christmas.  Instead of the sentiment I used a snowflake which was cut using a spellbinder snowflake die, then I placed a silver snowflake in the middle of that.
Finished off with some glitter.

Be sure to stop over at Bloggabella to see what the rest of the babes and sistah's have done for this challenge.  Leave a comment for a chance to win some bella bucks.

Next week our challenge is Christmas In July - well looks like I was a week early, I guess I should of checked our schedule!  Hey that means I will have 2 cards done!! Email Emily your card by thursday night - if you play along you have a chance to win $20 in bella bucks, and one less holiday card you will have to make later!!!

Enjoy your weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

Babycarriageabella

Hi - I have a card to share with you tonight.  I'm using one of my favourite 'bella' images.  This one is called babycarriageabella.  She is just the cutest pregnant gal evah.  I have coloured her before and I'm sure I will use her again.

She was stamped on bella's bestest paper and then I used copics for my base layer of colour and then used prismacolour pencils to add the deeper shades. Paper is from MME - Indie Chic- Nutmeg.  After cutting her out I sponged some antique linen around the image while the die in place.
I used our sketch challenge from 2 weeks ago for my layout.  Finished off with lots of glitter and some yellow seam binding ribbon.

You still have time to play in this weeks sketch challenge if you haven't already done so.  Email Emily your card by tomorrow night to be included in the showcase over on Bloggabella on friday.

Thanks for stopping in, and I will see you back her on Friday for our challenge.

Up, Up and away

Hi - hope you are all enjoy your Saturday.  Me- not doing to much its way to hot.  This morning at 6 it was already 104 with the humidex factor - so it's going to be an indoor day for me for the most part.
My plants are already watered, bird feeders filled - so all are happy!

I have a card to share with you today - Ramona and Teddy in their balloon.

Such an adorable image.  Romona was stamped on bella's bestest paper and coloured with copics and
shaded with pencils and gamsol.  I used Basic Grey's - What's Up paper - love how it ties in with the image, hot air balloons and clouds in the background and houses down below - looks like Ramona is gliding on by. Added some glitter and ribbon to finish it off.

Well that's it for me.  Hope to get some more cards done today - but first going to tackle cleaning - my floors need washing - ugh! but it has to get done.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

Memories

Happy Friday all!  Another weekend is upon us, and looks like another hot one as well.  Wednesday temps reached as high as 118F - it was so humid you could hardly breath - the air was so thick, and having asthma that is not a good thing!  It's not suppose to be quite that hot on the weekend, but still around 100 or just above.

For this weeks challenge we needed to emboss - whether it be dry embossing or embossing with a heat gun, the choice is yours.  I choose to do dry embossing.  I'm  always in need of sympathy cards for my sale baskets, so rummaged through some stamps and embossing folders and this is what I came up with.

This was a fairly quick card to put together once I figured out what I was doing!  I used an embossing folder from Darcie (tree), the memory sentiment was stamped on heavy vellum using black stazon, the scallop border at the bottom was a couple of dies from Spellbinder- classic decorative inserts five and classic petal.  I love how these edgeabilites all work with one another.

I added a piece of black cording and some pearls along the bottom decorative edge.  I think I will make some more of these.

Want to see some more awesome cards using the embossing technique? - then be sure to visit bloggabella for some inspiration, leave a comment for a chance to win some bella bucks.

Next week our challenge is another sketch.  This is sketch #14.  If you play along with us, email Emily your card by thursday night.

Have a great weekend - stay cool!
