A little sunshine

Hope your week is going well.  Today I'm sharing another watercoloured card I did a few weeks ago.

For this card I'm using MFT's Floral Focus set.  I started by embossing this onto some canson water colour 140lb paper with white embossing powder.

I used my Zig Clean colour makers to colour this. Once done I went to use my largest rectangle die to cut it out and realized that when I embossed the image I didn't place the stamp in the correct position. I kind of turned the image a bit on an angle, where I should I had it vertical, only because the water colour paper was cut down and I couldn't turn the die to make it work, so....... that's when I decided to cut a wood grain border using Hero Arts Wood Frame Infinity die, cut this out of kraft, then sponged some distress ink around the edges to darken it up.  I then laid the frame over my watercoloured piece, moving it around to get the best fit.  I was able to make it fit, except for one corner which really wasn't a corner, but it's hidden so no one sees it. and I went outside the box on the left side as well.  Geesh... sometimes you really have to improvise!

Long and short of it all, it turned out okay, I added some Nuvo glimmer pen to the flowers to add sparkle, added some sequins and rhinestones, and then also a sentiment.  The sentiment is from SSS, sentiment strips.

In Sympathy

I'm slowly getting my mojo back.  After making Valentine cards, I've just been in a creative mood.  I've seen so many beautiful cards lately that are water coloured, so thought I would try it again.  I get very intimated when water colouring, never seem to be happy with the outcome.  Maybe I worry about it to much and just need to go with the outcome. So with that said I just jumped in and water coloured an image.

I'm using a stamp from Hero Arts - Florals  CM260, and here is my card.

Embossed image with white EP, onto Canson 104lb. I used Prima paints to water colour - Pastel Dreams, Woodlands and Decadent Pie sets.

I trimmed down the image using an MFT stitched rectangle die, then layered it onto a soft pink c/s.  I embossed the sentiment (which comes with the set) onto some heavy vellum (PTI) with white EP, wrapped the ends around the layer.

Added some enamel dots to finish this off.

Tulips x 2

Hello everyone.  Today, I'm about to double your pleasure as I have 2 cards to share.  Both using the same stamp, but different layouts and colours.

I was in need of a couple of Easter cards for a friend, so scrounging around for some spring flowers, I came across a Hero Arts tulip stamp that I haven't used in quite some time.  Perfect!  So I played around with some different colours and these were my favourites.

The first one was done but colouring directly onto the image with distress markers, huff, and stamp.
I used MFT cross stitch rectangle die to cut it our then layered it onto another piece of white card stock. I wrapped some lace around the image, then adhered then to a piece of scrap dp from the scrap bin, then onto my card base.
To finish up I used my wink of stella clear pen to add a bit of sparkle to the tulips, a couple of enamel dots and a  tiny silk green bow.

 

For my second card, I used distress markers again, huff & stamp.  I used MFT stitched inside & out rounded rectangle die to cut it our.  I wrapped some orange gingham ribbon around the base of the flowers before adhering to the next layer. For that I used  sizzix  embossing folder - sorry do not know the name of this one.

To finish off used my wink of stella clear pen for the flowers and added some enamel dots.

Great thing about both cards is that they are nice and flat for mailing - no extra posted required!

Lone bird

Hi everyone! Hope your enjoying your weekend.

Here is my card for today:

I stamped the bird using memento rich cocoa onto some cream cardstock.  I then layered this onto another cream c/s which was stamped using a text stamp from Magenta.

The pearlized background was done as follows.  I  embossed my background using a hero arts background stamp with white embossing powder onto some canson water colour paper. I then  used some Inka gold platinum and some tattered rose distress ink.  I squished my distress pad onto my craft mat, added a bit of inka gold, a bit of water and mixed to make a wash.  I then painted on the wash over my embossed background.  It dries fairly quickly as well. Once dry I layered this onto a piece of cream c/s, then adhered to my card base. Added some lace, twine and a prima flower.  I also added some small gold sequins to finish this off.  The technique of the background came from Kim over at The Paper Pickle. 

The inka gold comes in a variety of colours, but for a wash like I did, if you add ink to the platinum colour you can make it any colour you desire.

paper - cream, rose metallic, canson water colour

Flowers in blue

It's a beautiful day here in SW Ontario, no humidity, nice breeze and sunny, a perfect summer day!  I've been spending my day outside, but thought I should come in for a moment or two and post a card.
I did this card a few weeks back. The stamp I used is a new release from Hero Arts called Flowers on a Stem.

For my card, I coloured directly on the stamp using distress markers, spritzed and then stamped on 110lb white c/s.  I then cut out the flowers using spellbinders majestic labels twenty-five.  I had laying on my table a white piece of cardstock cut from spellbinder tile works.  The wheels got turning and from there the card came together.  The ribbon is really not that bright of blue in real life. It's funny how a camera can pick up colours and show them differently than what they really are.

The same but different

Since I'm still enjoying my last day off before returning back to work for a couple of days on wed and thurs, I thought I would take a break from coloring and do some real stamping.  When I was at Archivers a couple of weeks ago, I picked up the new Hero Arts catalog.  I find their cards are fairly simple - not a lot of layers, ribbons, embellishments etc, but they do have some good ideas. 

So with saying that, I saw this idea for a Sympathy card.  Although this type of card is the least favourite we like to make, it seems these kind are the first to sell from my card baskets.

These worked up fairly fast as well.  The background was done with distress inks as well as the leaf stamp.  After stamping I trimmed up the image, then went around the edge with my gold kylon marker, then layered it onto a piece of cream.  No glitter required for these cards but I thought it needed something, so I added a little bow using my bow maker (love that little tool!).
