Bliss

Hello! I happy to say I have a card to share with you today.  I finally got a little bit of my mojo back this weekend.

The weather the weekend was much warmer than normal, especially Sunday with temperatures in the high teens, and lots of sun, but today is much different! Gloomy and cold. Seeing the sun made me want to colour up something spring and floral.  I pulled out a Penny Black image called Bliss.

Image was stamped in black versafine, the I used copics to colour.  Colours are: G40, G43, G82, YG97, RV63, RV66, RV69, YR15.

I then used the Postal Frame die from The Greetery to cut it out.  I left the die in place and then sponged distress oxide bundled sage, spun sugar and seedless preserves around the image using my life changing brushes.

For the sentiment I used a sentiment strip from Simon Says Stamps, ran it through my laminator using some purple foil.  I don't think you can see the purple foil on the writing but it is there. I then popped it up off the card using some foam tape

To finish I added some bling - pearl and some rhinestones from Little Things from Lucy's Cards - Crystal Collection. Also added some TH rock candy glitter to the purple buds. I then layered my card front onto some Bazzill - Cotton Candy c/s.

Thank you for stopping by.  Stay healthy, and stay creative!

Lucky charm

Hello! I hope everyone is doing okay during these scary times.  I have been working from home starting this week, which I am most grateful for.  I know there will be some trying times ahead of us for sure.

I meant to post this yesterday, but lost track of what day it was I guess.  So here I am today.  I should of posted this one earlier in the week as it is a St. Patrick day card, which was only a few days ago, so I guess I'm good.

I used a Power Poppy digital clover image for the focal point of my card.

Once coloured using Polychromos pencils and gamsol, I sponged some light blue ink onto it for some background shading.  I pulled out SSS stitched circle to cut it out, then layered it onto a piece of gold foil c/s.  I then layered it onto my decorative background using Joy Craft die - Square Frame.

To finish off I added some small tiny gold beads to the centers of the clover, some glitter to the flower, and die cut four clovers using gold foil c/s and Memory Box Lucky Charm die and placed them in the corners of the square frame die cut.

Well that's it for me today, I'm off today as well, already went out to pick up a few grocery items early before the stores got busy to avoid being close to anyone as much as possible.  As I am in that age group, and have Asthma, I need to be cautious.

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend, stay safe my friends! Hugs,

Pauline

Spring wishes

Well hopefully Spring is just around the corner.  This weekend was a bit warmer, sunny which is always good to see.  I took a peek at this weeks forecast and looks like sunny skies with a trace of rain with temps between 45-50F (7-10C) and then falls to 32F (0C) on the weekend, but still no snow.

I had a chance to play around on Saturday, with some dies from The Greetery.  I finished another Easter Card, using the Botanicuts Lily and Bontanicuts Palm dies.

No stamping at all except for the sentiment, (PTI - Spring Hills)  all other pieces were die cuts.  For the Botanicuts Lily's, I cut it from 100lb white c/s, then applied distress oxide inks to colour them.  I used scattered straw, spun sugar, worn lipstick.  I then took a copic marker R21 and added some dots to the petals. for the leaves I sponged, twisted citron, peeled paint and a bit of mowed lawn.

For the palm leaves and sponged distress oxide inks - peeled paint, crushed olive, pine needles, faded jeans, and peacock feathers onto a piece of 100lb white c/s, then I spritzed with a bit of water and then I die cut the palms.

For the background I sponged some spun sugar and worn lipstick and a bit of scattered straw, then splattered some worn lipstick.  I used the Halfsies Diamond Die  to add some interest to the bottom part of the card.

Of course I needed to add some bling, so added a bit of sparkle using my Nuvo glimmer pen on the Lily's, then added some pearls and rhinestones.

I appreciate your visit.  Have a wonderful day!

A little sunshine

Hope your week is going well.  Today I'm sharing another watercoloured card I did a few weeks ago.

For this card I'm using MFT's Floral Focus set.  I started by embossing this onto some canson water colour 140lb paper with white embossing powder.

I used my Zig Clean colour makers to colour this. Once done I went to use my largest rectangle die to cut it out and realized that when I embossed the image I didn't place the stamp in the correct position. I kind of turned the image a bit on an angle, where I should I had it vertical, only because the water colour paper was cut down and I couldn't turn the die to make it work, so....... that's when I decided to cut a wood grain border using Hero Arts Wood Frame Infinity die, cut this out of kraft, then sponged some distress ink around the edges to darken it up.  I then laid the frame over my watercoloured piece, moving it around to get the best fit.  I was able to make it fit, except for one corner which really wasn't a corner, but it's hidden so no one sees it. and I went outside the box on the left side as well.  Geesh... sometimes you really have to improvise!

Long and short of it all, it turned out okay, I added some Nuvo glimmer pen to the flowers to add sparkle, added some sequins and rhinestones, and then also a sentiment.  The sentiment is from SSS, sentiment strips.

Thanks for your visit today, have a great day!

Easter cards

Hello everyone.  I'm back today to share a couple of Easter cards I made for a friend's card order.

I don't have much in the way of Easter images, but when I saw the release last month from The Greetery, a couple of those jumped into my cart!

Betsy (the Greetery) put together an Easter kit which contains a stamp set, dies and stencils. I have used her kits before when they were released from Papertrey Ink and loved them.  Lots of details in her designs.

Started with  the 1st stencil which is the opening area where the die cuts (EASTER) will appear.  I sponged distress tumbled glass.  Next stencil is the leaves, which I used a bit of distress twisted citron and shabby shutters.  Next stencil is the flowers I sponged distress mustard seed.   Once that was done I used the co-coordinating stamps.    The first is the leaf detail - used distress mowed lawn, and then the top layer of the tulips I used distress worn lipstick.  Using worn lipstick on top of the mustard seed, kind of turned it orange, but still really pretty.  I then laid the tulip the stencil back on top and added some Nuvo glimmer paste.  Love how glittery this is once it dried.  I then left the letter die intact and centered them over the blue, then die cut.  I also cut a set of white letters.  I adhered a layer of white cardstock behind my card front, then dropped the white letters into the openings.  With the letter dies there is also a small flag end die cut for the set of sentiments which is included in the set.  I used the word 'greetings' stamped in black versafine, added some foam tape behind for dimension.  To finish off I added some pastel coloured pearls from Little Things - Lucy Cards, Crystal collection - Harmony

My second card was done the same way, just changed up the colours.  I went with distress antique linen for the area behind the letters. Once it was done I wished I went with either a bit darker colour or something completely different.  Not sure the antique linen does much for it.

For the leaves I used the same colours but used peeled paint for the leaf detail.  The tulips I used, worn lipstick and candied apple, and shaded lilac and wilted violet.  I used the die 'happy' which is also from The Greetery, die cut it a couple of times.  The top layer I sponged some wilted violet and worn lipstick. To finish off I added some crystal gems from Little Things from Lucy's cards Crystal Collection - Over the Rainbow. I know you can't see it in this picture because I added some Nuvo shimmer to the 'happy' and the tulips after I took the picture.  It was an after thought, but still pretty both ways.

I hope you are still with me after that long post.  I guess I didn't need to go in full detail, but wanted to explain all the layers of the stenciling.

I appreciate you stopping by for a visit.  Have a happy day!

30 day colour challenge

I decided to play along in the 30 Day colour challenge by Kathy Racoosin.  Now I don't always have a chance to colour every day, but I think this might push me to be more creative more days than none, if you know what I mean.

I started on Sunday, and finished colouring this on Monday night.

This is an image by Penny Black - flower embrace.

I started out by stamping the image onto so Strathmore mixed media paper vellum surface using antique linen distress ink.  I used my Kuretake paints and then highlighted with Polychromos pencils.

Sentiment is also from Penny Black - Sprinkles and smiles set.

DP paper is by Craft Consortium - Watercolours.

To finish touches I added some mini prills to the center of the sunflower.  I was going to fill the entire center in, but thought it might be too much so just did the bottom portion of the center.  I also added some clear sequins and some twine.

Now, what am I going to colour next?

Thank you for stopping by, have a  fabulous weekend!

Snowy flight

Can you believe it that we are in March already?  Where did those 2 months go?  All I can say is that we are that much closer to spring! Last week we had some really bad winter weather, but this week and next we are above 0C, and looks like no snow, just some rain and sunshine!

Every year I have good intentions of starting my Christmas cards early, it never happens.  But a couple of weeks ago, when I was on a roll with my card making, I pulled out a Penny Black image and decided to start my Christmas cards!  So this is my first for 2020, I'm excited!!

Penny Black - Snowy flight.

I started by stamping the image onto some Neenah Desert Storm c/s using Antique Linen distress ink. I then pulled out my Polychromos pencils and coloured away.

Once coloured I splattered some white gouache, and then stamped a sentiment from  SSS - The Magic of Christmas using versafine vintage sepia.

To finish off I dotted some liquid glue along the branches and then poured Twinklets Diamond Dust onto it, to give it the snowy look on the branches.

Have yourself of wonderful day!
