Sunny sunflower and a couple of cards

Hi there.  Just popping in for a quick post tonight.  This is the end of my 4 day weekend.  Not much done in the line of card making.  We had a beautiful weekend, low humidity, but starting tomorrow, we are back up into the 100's again, very hot and humid, with maybe a chance of rain Friday into Saturday (much needed rain!). With the great sunny weather we had I spent a lot of time out in the gardens and just enjoying the beautiful weather.

I wanted to share this picture of a 'sunflower' that popped up in our garden.  Now many of you know how much we love birds, so I think the sunflower sprouted from some of the sunflower seeds the birds drop from the feeders.  We had a total of 6 sunflowers grow this year, 4 were fairly small but we had two full size and this is one of them.

Now for my card, actually I have 2 versions of it.  With the large Thank you card order I spent some time on Pinterest looking for ideas.  I came across PTI Make it Monday video which shared  the making of  a card, which I have done 2 of.  I changed the sentiment, colours and changed up the die cut base plate so they weren't the same. I did do a Thank you one as well but never took a picture.  I did it in the green/blue tones using the design of the 2nd card.

These were both so easy and fun to do.  I used water colour paper measuring 5.5 x 4.25 then coloured various Zig clean colour markers across the paper on a diagonal.  Then I took a wet paint brush and started to blend the colours.  Once dry ( I used a heat gun to speed up the process) I used a PTI base plate in the two different designs above and cut it out.  Because the water colour paper is a bit heavier I was lucky that all the pieces remained in the die cut.  I added some adhesive to the back of each piece, then layered a piece of white card stock onto the die cut.  Turned over the die cut face up and removed the negative piece.

I then cut a couple of different coloured tags and stamped the sentiment.  Added some fun foam to the back of each then adhered to the front of the card.  I attached the die cut piece to the front of a top folded card, then added  sequins and enamel dots to finish off.

Well that's it for me for today.  Enjoy your day.

Pauline

Sunflowers are so pretty. They're just like a flower smile. LOL Love the cards. The beautiful colors you used stand out and shine in their die cut forms. Hugs!

I can hardly get over how perfect that sunflower is! Nature's beauty is the best and sunflowers are a work of wonder. I have a mess of cracked seeds in the garden and I pull sprouts frequently. I really need to move that one feeder. Now, your cards... fabulous! I'm really drawn to the colors in the first card, and maybe it's the diamond die cut, too. And both are perfectly executed, as your cards always are. I love the tag with the twine on the first, and the darling tiny bow on the second. The first is very warm colors and the second very cool. I'm so glad you shared them! Hope you can stay air conditioned during the heat. We're going to the valley tomorrow and it's hot up there. I'll melt!

Hello Pauline: Thank you for sharing this glorious Sunflower, it's a joy to see it, we should all take some time to admire even the smallest of wild flowers, they are a gift for us to enjoy.
Now, your cards are stunning, what magnificent colors on both and this technique is fabulous, I never thought of using this types of dies to make cards such as yours.
What a clever idea to put glue on the back side of this little pieces and then, turn the whole thing over onto your card base.
With your permission, I think I will CASE them, I have a die that looks like the one you used for your second card, only the pieces are a bit smaller but I think it will work beautifully.
Thank you so much for sharing this gorgeous cards.
Big Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.

Oh, Pauline! I LOVE your sunflower, and how cool that the birds dropped the seeds and they grew! We had some a few years back, and they are so beautiful! Stunning photo! And wow, I love your cards! Great colors and beautiful ombre technique! And the dies are gorgeous - really make quite the statement. And then adding the sentiment tag with some twine and ribbon - stunning! Hugs, sweet friend!
