First Dance

Sorry I've been away all week, it's just been one of those weeks.  We were battling a major snow storm last Sunday and into Monday with a snowfall of 14", then blowing snow and drifts on top of that. We had 2ft drifts along the back door, so to get out we had to basically keep pushing the door open then slide through the opening.  Once out we were faced with all 3 cars surrounded with 2-3ft of snow drifts - just pure craziness! Needless to say all schools were closed, but since I only live 5 min from work, I was able to get there.  Then on Thursday I started getting a sore throat which is now a full blown chest cold - constantly coughing.  Grrrrrrr.  I hate winters.  Now tonight we are blessed with freezing rain, everything is covered with ice, this is suppose to continue through the night then turn to snow by morning - another lovely way to start off the week!

First of all I was totally surprised today when I received an email from Splitcoast Stampers announcing that I was selected a the Featured Stamper of the week!  Here is the thread where it all started. I am still overwhelmed from the emails and responses from many fellow stampers.

Today's card is one in which I started last night.  I'm using a Penny Black stamp called First Dance.
I started by colouring directly onto the stamp using Tombow Markers, spritzed then stamped it onto some watercolour paper. One it was dry, I used some prismacolour pencils and added some shading.

After I was finished colouring I cut out the flower using Spellbinder A2 Devine Eleoguence.  I left the die in place and then sponged some distress antique linen and the went over that with some distress ripe persimmon. I layered the frame onto a piece of dp from Bo Bunny - autumn song collection.
On the Terracotta tile c/s I embossed both top and bottom edge using a cuttlebug flourish embossing strip folder just to add a bit of interest rather than leaving it plain.

To finish off I added a satin terracotta tile satin bow and an amber rhinestone in the middle.  I also took by wink of stella clear pen and coloured the flower to give is some sparkle.

Supplies:
Stamp - Penny Black - first dance
Ink - Tombow makers - 055, 098, 158, 815, 837, 946 - prismacolour pencils - sunburst yellow, raspberry, orange, distress antique linen & ripe persimmon
Paper - cream, PTI terracotta tile,  Bo bunny - autumn song collection
Dies - spellbinder - A2 Devine eleoquence
Misc - PTI terracota tile satin ribbon, amber rhinestone, wink of stella clear pen, cuttlebug flourish embossing strip folder

Thanks for stopping by, till next time....

I'm not one tiny bit surprised that you were chosen Featured Stamper. You should be Featured Stamper every day! It's a well-deserved honor. Just look at this beauty, for instance. "Awesome" is not a word I would use lightly for this. The colors and the effect of the spritzing are gorgeous! I'm sorry to hear you've come down sick. I can't imagine dealing with all that snow and freezing rain. It's windy and wet here, but that's about all. Sun is supposed to come back tomorrow, though. Hope you feel better soon! Going to go take a peek at that SCS thread...

So beautiful! Saw you were the Featured Stamper at SCS. Congratulations my friend. I've never seen a single example of your artistry that did not deserve to be called masterpiece. Hugs!
P.S. Take care of yourself.
