Something different

Happy Friday! and it's another 3 day weekend for me - so happy :).

Well the weather surely has been very strange this winter.  With lots of snow and deep freezing temps, now we are into a bit of a thaw with over an inch of rain yesterday (on top of all that snow), makes for lots of laying water, and very icy conditions.  We also had  thunder and lightning (in the middle of winter) so strange.  Very high winds today, so lets hope it helps dry some of the laying water up.

Okay, enough about the weather, lets get on with my card.  If you surf the blogs like I do, you would of seen a lot of different techniques using stencils.  Well I thought it was time I branched out and tried something new.

I started out by applying Wendy Vecchi's embossing paste - white - and using a stencil from Crafters workshop. After letting it dry for a bit I continued on with my card.  I made a flag tag out of heavy vellum, and stamped the sentiment using black archival ink.  Next, I used one of the doily dies from this set from PTI .  After it was cut out I stamped it with MFT's typewriter background stamp using memento desert sand.  Butterfly is by Memory Box as well as the leafy sprigs.

I finished off with some coloured sequins and some tiny white pearls.  Now you are probably wondering how I got the bit of blue on the embossed paste.  Well, it was a fluke.  When I grabbed the stencil and laid it down to apply the paste I didn't realize that it was not completely cleaned and of course the bit of ink that was on it from my last use, rubbed off onto the wet paste.  All in all, it served well for this project.  Love it when it just happens!

Thanks for stopping in, have a great weekend.

Pauline

Oh, my, that's very pretty, Pauline! I would never have thought the blue shading was an accident. Here I was thinking what a nice touch it was to add that bit of color. The dies are simply beautiful and so well combined, and the vellum helps keep it all very soft and dreamy. I just love this!

Ooooh this is fabulous Pauline! And I agree... the touch of blue from the stencil certainly adds to the design rather than detracts!
