A friend ...

Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend.  I spent the day on the road today.  Bill and I headed down to Ojibway Park in Windsor to have a peak at what if any 'new birds' have flown in due to migration.  Nothing new, just the usual suspects - as I always say-, but I did have a deer eat from my hand.  There were about 10 all standing out in the open area along the walkways and a friend of mine had some feed and they would come right up to you.  There were a couple of fawns - so precious, I just wanted to hug them - but I didn't.  We also saw a pair of Wood ducks, Bill managed to get the male in flight - gorgeous.  After that we headed down to Pt. Pelee, we walked one of the trails and came across some Golden Crown Kinglets - those little guys just don't stand still.  Bill had a hard time trying to take pictures because they are constantly moving, but.... he did manage to get some beauties.  I can't wait until migration is in full swing.

The card I have to share today, is an image I stamped a few weeks ago, after I stamped it, it wasn't quite what I thought it would look like (colour wise), so I tossed it in my 'maybe someday bucket'.  So one night I was going through some papers looking for something else, when I came across some Memory Box paper that caught my eye.  I pulled it out and remembered that image I had stamp off a few weeks ago, pulled that out and Oh my, it matched perfectly.    Morale of this story, always keep your 'duds' because you never know when they might come into play.  Here is my card:

Stamp is from Penny Black (an older stamp), and I coloured right on the stamp using Distress Markers - weathered wood, milled lavender, & shabby shutters, then spritzed and stamped. Paper is from Memory Box.  For the flourish along the left side is from Memory Box.  Finished off with glitter, some sequins (white and coloured using copic colour BV11), and some mauve seam binding ribbon.

Supplies:
Stamp - Penny Black - Delphinium
Die - Memory Box - Fauntleroy Crest
Paper - cougar white, Prisma mauve, Memory Box
Ink - distress ink - milled lavender, distress markers - weathered wood, milled lavender & shabby shutters, versafine smokey grey
Misc - sequins, seam binding ribbon, corner rounder, glitter

Have a great day!

Oh, my, it is indeed gorgeous, and you're not kidding about the paper being perfect for it. I love the watercolor look of the image. Haven't tried the distress markers, but have to wonder about them. Just what I need, another coloring medium. This is so pretty, Pauline, and I just love everything you stamp. Your day sounds wonderful! Just the kind of day I love most. Today I'll be in the garden, and that's pretty awesome, too!

Hi Pauline,

Really lovely card. Thank you.
Had a big surprise today - the swallows have come back. They are early this year. Just wish I could give them a "treat" after flying all that way to come see us again this year. Its made my day to hear them sing.

Much love,

HA! Maybe I would keep those duds if they looked anything like this one. That stamped image is gorgeous. Always enjoy the watercolor look and you really did find the perfect papers to match it. Hope you're going to share some of Bill's photos. hint hint. :-) Hugs!

I love that your "reject" and I say that in a loving way :) turned out to be just perfect on another card! I try to never toss things either if they don't work the first time....but sometimes I just have to throw in the towel. This is lovely Pauline!
