Birthday blessings

Hi all.  It's been a while since I last posted.  I'm knee deep in Christmas card orders as well as working + overtime, which isn't leaving a lot of time to do much of anything else.  With that being said, I needed some 'me' time, so last night my daughter Karen and I went to see the Vienna Boys Choir in town.  Phenomenal!!!  These boys range from age 10 - 14 and wow! could they sing. It was very entertaining and well worth the night out.

 I'm sharing a card I made a month or so ago.  Quite simple, yet pretty.

Not a lot of explanation needed on this one.  Not sure of the name of the paper used, it was in my scrap bin.  Dies used - spellbinders - oval, foral oval, Memory box - chloe stem.  Sentiment is from Verve stamped in Black Versafine.

Finished it off with some pearls, ribbon and some flowers.
A quick card and a great way to use some of your scraps.

Reindeer Games

Hi - hope everyone had a good week.  Today I was up around 6 - I can never sleep in on weekends, so I went for my 1/2 hour walk, came home, had some cereal, then was going to work on some cards, but I had that guilt feeling nagging at me.  It is a very mild day for us today, and we have tons of leaves that needed to be raked and bagged.
So out I went, I bagged 13 bags - and I tell you I can hardly bend over (sucks to be getting old!)  I have a bad sciatica as it is, and this didn't help. But glad the leaves are off the lawn, because it's suppose to rain tomorrow and some snow coming next week.

After colouring up  the card in my previous post - Santa's helper, I knew I had to buy another one of these hilarious
images from Art Impressions.  

This one is called Reindeer Games - what a hoot!

 

I stamped her on some white c/s using memento black ink.  I shaded around her with prismacolour pencils then coloured her with copics. I used the smallest die of the grand nestabilities die to cut her out then sponged some antique lined around while the die was in place.

Designer paper is from MME called 12 days of Christmas.  I also used some washi tape that I had laying on my work table to make a couple of fish tale strips, then added a snowflake cut from kraft. Snowflake die is from Impression Obsession.

To finish off,  I added a bella dot in the center of the snowflake, some glossy accents to her glasses and a bit of glitter to her earrings and the snowflake.

Santa's Helper

A quick post for today.  I'm back with another holiday card to share with you.  I have had this stamp for a few months now, and finally just got around to colouring it up.

Today's image features a stamp from Art Impressions called Santa's Helper,

So what do you think, isn't she a hoot?  I coloured her up using copics and shading around her with prismacolour pencils.  Sentiment is from PTI.  I added some white flock to her hat trim and pom pom, also added some Tim Holtz distress glitter - clear rock candy to the ground area.

Christmas Chickadee

I'm back today to share another Christmas card with you.  I'm on a roll!

I purchased this set from SU last year and never had a chance to use it.  So I made sure I dug it out to use this year.  This set is called Beautiful Season. The image was coloured using copics.

After I cut out the image I left the die in place and sponged some versamagic Aloe Vera around the image. I added some crystal glitter ritz to the berries to give them a bit of sparkle.
Finished off with some red seam binding ribbon which was held in place with a basic grey brad.  I have a jar filled with these brads and never seem to use them - to be honest I forgot I even had them!

Dies used - spellbinder labels 28 & decorative labels 28.  Card measures 6.25 x 4.5

A Red Door

Hi, I'm back today to share another Christmas Card.  Although this idea didn't come to me naturally, I was inspired by Debbie's card over at Paper Pickle.  She is also teaching a class using this card (well her version) so be sure to give the Paper Pickle a call to get signed up, you will not be disappointed.

Okay so here is my version:

Supplies used:

Memory Box Die - grand Madison door, bow from hanging snowflake
Sentiment - PTI - tree trimming trio
Cardstock - white 110lb (from Marco's papers), SU - cherry cobbler,  Gold shimmer paper (bow)
Martha Stewart - leafy punch
gold flat head brad
gliltter
Ink - Tim Holtz - frayed burlap distress ink for around the panels, Black Versafine
Sizzix - brick embossing folder
Spellbinder - enchanted labels 28 - for the sentiment 

I also made a similar card using a dark grey door and a red wreath, but I forgot to take a picture of it before I sold it.

Well, that's it for me, heading off to work early, we are back into overtime again.

Holiday Wishes

Hi.  First of all, thanks for all the comments on Bill's pictures of our trips, greatly appreciated.   He was 'wowed' by your comments.

 I thought it was time that I start working on my Christmas cards for this year.  I have some orders to fill, plus my sale basket out in Dresden and Paper Pickle.

Today's card showcases a Memory Box die called Classic Ornament.  You can purchase this die at
The Paper Pickle.  I've seen several cards made using this die. 

I started by cutting out 3 ornaments from glitter paper - silver, gold, and chocolate brown.  Love this paper it is so shimmery. I then placed the ornaments where I wanted them to hang, then drew  fine black lines for the thread.  I popped the ornaments up using pop dots.  It was kind of plain so I cut some pine needles using Memory Box Pine Needle border.  Sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

I also made another version but this time I used glitter paper in the colours of black, silver and charcoal.

 

I love both of these, how about you, do you have a favourite?  Overall, this card is pretty quick to make.  I think I will be making more of these with other colours.

Lake Placid to Cape Breton

Hi, this is a long post, so grab a coffee, sit back and enjoy the view!
We finally got around to getting some of our pictures done from our trip out to the East coast. This first picture is from top of Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid New York.
We were almost 5,000 above sea level, it took 5 miles of winding road to reach almost the top, then we took an elevator to the very top.  Temperature was 32 F (0 C) - it was cold and with wind gusts up to 45 mph - and keep in mind I was wearing shorts!! Yes when we left our house it was low 60's so nice for wearing shorts, but not for mountain viewing.  Although I took my sandals off and put on my running shoes and jacket I was fine.  The only part that was really cold were my hands. This is the view we had to contend with - Spectacular is all I can say!!

And this is the hotel we stayed at overlooking the town of Lake Placid (Crown Plaza)- again the view was awesome, we had mountain view side with the sunset.  Bill took this picture the next morning before we left with the reflection of the sun rising against the windows.

We then continued our trip over to Bar Harbor Maine, with stops at Portland to see the famous Portland Head Lighthouse

Next day we stopped at Pemaquid to visit another Lighthouse.  You will notice through all our pictures we always seem to visit spots when the tide was out. These next 3 pictures were taken early as the sun was just rising.

After this we made our way to Bar Harbor - where we stayed for 3 nights and visited Acadia National Park.  There was so much to see we didn't even cover half of it. Never the less, here are some of our favourite pictures.

This next one you can see the reflection of the lighthouse in the puddle of water and long Bill's reflection taking the picture - pretty cool!

Acadia National Park along Park Loop Road (ocean view side).  

 We stopped along the Park Loop to visit Jordan Pond. There is a gift shop and restaurant there and as I walking by a hummingbird flew right in front of me and she landed within a foot from me. I couldn't believe how close you could get to them because we can't get that close here at home, maybe 3-4 ft, but that's it.  The fellow that was watering the plants said he has never seen anything like this before, they are not bothered by people, they will come really close to you.  These are two of our favourites of the hummingbirds.

These next 3 were take at sunset down at the harbor front in Bar Harbor

   

  
As we headed up into New Brunswick we stopped at another lighthouse in Maine

 Then onto Cape Breton Nova Scotia, where we toured Cabot Trail - simple breathtaking!!
The first 3 were taken around 6am just as the sun was rising.
It was so tranquil, I just wanted to stay and sit on that dock!

Back home through New Brunswick, we stopped at Dalhousie to view this lighthouse.

Algonquin Park
